Sod Delivery Across the Northshore
Fresh sod cut at the farm, delivered to your property.
Order fresh-cut sod by the pallet for your Northshore property, anywhere from lakefront Mandeville to pine-belt Bogalusa to the Hancock County Gulf Coast. Your block has its own soil profile out of the five working zones across this hundred-mile stretch, and the grass that ships matches it.
Grass types we deliver by the pallet.
The four main grass varieties we sell are St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, and Centipede.

St. Augustine
- Wide Blade grass with dense growth that outgrows most weeds.
- Performs better in shade than other warm season turfgrasses.
- Tolerates moderate foot traffic and has very good wear recovery.
- Most Popular grass in the area.

Zoysia
- Fine blade to medium blade grass with very dense carpet like growth.
- Performs better in shade than most other warm season turf grasses.
- Tolerates heavy foot traffic and has very good wear recovery.
- Used in lawns and Golf Courses across the country.

Bermuda
- Fine blade grass.
- Warm-Season, Heat-Tolerant Grass. Great for Southeast Lawns.
- Performs better in full sun, but can tolerate a little shade.
- High Foot Traffic Tolerance and Fast Recovery from wear.
- Great for Athletic Fields and High Use areas.

Centipede
- Medium blade grass.
- Warm-Season, Heat-Tolerant Grass. Great for Southeast Lawns.
- Performs better in full sun, but can tolerate a little shade.
- Low Maintenance & Fertilization Requirements.
- Called Lazy Man's Grass since it's easy to maintain.

Best grass pick for your yard.
Every yard is a little different. Here is how we match grass to your situation so you are not guessing.
- Family yard with kids or dogs: If your family yard takes traffic from kids or pets, Zoysia is the first pick across every subdivision we have worked in.
- Full-sun new subdivision: TifTuf Bermuda suits any open full-sun lot. Strongest drought and heat tolerance of anything we carry.
- Older lot with shade: For any shaded lot, I would not suggest Bermuda or Centipede. Centipede can handle some shade but Bermuda does not do well at all. So I recommend St. Augustine or Zoysia here.
- Low-maintenance rural property: On larger rural acreage, Centipede is the best fit. It suits the acidic pine-belt soil and means fewer mowings for you.

About the Northshore, LA.
- USDA Zone
- USDA Zone 8b-9a. This zone supports all four sod grasses we sell across the entire Northshore.
- Climate
- Humid subtropical with a mix of lakefront, river, and pine-belt microclimates. Lakefront moisture in the south, dry pine-belt heat to the north. Different microclimates change the install timing window for each grass.
- Annual rainfall
- 64 to 68 inches. Coastal Northshore averages 66 to 68 inches; northern Tangipahoa and Washington Parish run 62 to 64. Bermuda performs better in the drier north.
- Soil profile
- Every profile we work with: lakefront sandy loam in Mandeville, acidic pine loam in Slidell and north Covington, river clay along the Bogue Falaya and Tchefuncte, agricultural sandy loam in Tangipahoa, and deep pine-belt acidic soil in Washington Parish. Five soil profiles across one region. Per-block matching, not per-parish.
- Coordinates
- 30.4755 N, 90.1009 W
- Elevation
- Ranging from lakefront sea level to 200+ feet in the pine belt north.
- Zip codes
- every Northshore zip code from Madisonville east to Slidell and from the lakefront north to Bogalusa
- Major roads
- I-12 (the east-west spine), I-10, I-55, I-59, Highway 190, Highway 21, Highway 25, Highway 59, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the Twin Span Bridge
- Drive from our yard
- 5 to 60 minutes via I-12 and Highway 190
Your Northshore yard does not get the same grass as the next city over. An Old Mandeville lakefront lot has nothing in common with a Highway 21 pine-belt subdivision in Covington, a Hammond university rental, or a Slidell post-storm rebuild in Salt Bayou. Send your zip and block, and the grass that arrives matches the dirt.
- Western Northshore (Madisonville, Folsom, Goodbee, Abita Springs)
- Zoysia fits the cleared western Northshore subdivisions, and St. Augustine handles the older oak-canopy lots. The soil out here runs mixed with river-clay pockets along the Tchefuncte and Bogue Falaya.
- Central Northshore (Covington, Mandeville, Lacombe)
- Every grass on the route shows up across the central Northshore depending on the block. The area covers lakefront sandy loam, oak canopy in older lots, and pine-belt rural acreage all in one stretch.
- Eastern Northshore (Slidell, Pearl River, Bush, Sun, Talisheek)
- Centipede leads the install schedule east of Lake Pontchartrain. The eastern Northshore is dominated by acidic pine forest loam, which is the profile Centipede was bred for.
- Tangipahoa and North (Hammond, Ponchatoula, Amite, Kentwood, Bogalusa)
- Zoysia and Bermuda fit the cleared subdivisions in Tangipahoa Parish, and Centipede works for the rural acreage in the Washington Parish pine belt. The soil up here runs sandy loam and agricultural ground.

the Northshore sod delivery questions.
Yes. We cover every Northshore zip code from Madisonville east to Slidell and from the lakefront north to Bogalusa. That includes every Northshore community: Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, Lacombe, Madisonville, Abita Springs, Folsom, Pearl River, Bush, Sun, Talisheek, Hammond, Ponchatoula, Robert, Tickfaw, Natalbany, Amite, Kentwood, Bogalusa, Franklinton. If your address is in St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes, we deliver.
We match the grass to the block, not the parish, because the Northshore runs five different soil profiles in a hundred-mile stretch. Centipede fits the pine-belt acidic loam. St. Augustine handles the oak canopy moisture. Zoysia carries the cleared subdivisions. Bermuda earns its keep on the open commercial and rural acreage.
